Mike Z. What motivates them? What makes them tick? What are their temperaments and how they react to things?!! You may have no idea now, but palm reading can help build your understanding of people, and you will become more empathy toward people around you. Understanding yourself is also such an essential part of Feng Shui. Knowing your own strengths and utilize them fully, knowing your weaknesses and how to compensate for them, will help you achieve better life. Open up your hand, and look into your mind! Where do you start? Should you grab a head scarf, and set up a teepee in your local mall, or maybe down a dank alley downtown?! Do you need to watch some Eastern European movies to perfect your accent? Not really! The first decision you’ll make in palm reading, is which hand to read. Usually, you will go for the dominant hand, or the one people would write and catch a ball with. The lines and shape of this hand are more directly linked to the personality, natural talents and weaknesses. The other, less dominant hand, will show you a person’s past and life experience(s) he has gone through. If a person’s two hands are completely different shapes, this indicates that(s) he has chosen a very different path,or approach to life, than they originally had. Many people have read a little about interpreting the lines on people’s hands, and I’m certain that you have heard plenty of schoolyard superstitions about your palm lines. You may have heard that the number of creases on the side of your hand, next to your little finger, shows how many children you will have – but have you ever seen a person with thirteen of these creases?! Having thirteen children is definitely not unheard of. Or you may have heard that for every one of creases on your wrist, you will live for 30 years. This superstition could be easily and categorically disprove, with just a little research. A far better way to learn about a person by looking at their hand is to analyse the shape of their hand. A person with: A large hand with long fingers is usually very detail-oriented, and might not see the whole picture. A broad, square-shaped hand can be quite broad-minded, is usually sensible and business-like in their dealings with people. This is a nice literal way your palm relates to your personality! A small hand is often contented, and may like to plan and manage more than what they can actually achieve. To bite off more than they can chew, so to speak! A long and narrow hand can be very imaginative and idealistic – maybe more so than practical! A dreamer… If someone’s hands are long and thin, this can indicate that (s)he is quite self-centred. You can imagine how just looking at the shape of someone’s hands can give you some good information about them, whether you are interviewing them for a job, or being interviewed by them, choosing a babysitter for your kids, going into business with them, getting to know somebody on a date, or meeting a friend or partner’s family for the first time. Knowing this sort of thing can help you understand where someone is coming from, and help you interpret their comments and thoughts. When you are trying to learn about someone at work, another aspect of their hands you can look at quite easily is the mounds on their hand. You can usually look at these pretty unobtrusively, with only a couple of weird looks (!) in normal conversation. The ones you will usually be concerned with on work colleagues are the mound of Jupiter, Mars and Mercury. The Mound of Jupiter lies underneath the index finger. If well developed, shows a person that strives to better themselves through industry and honesty. These people can have good leadership skills, too. This is a great little lump to have on your hand! The Mound of Mercury is located underneath your little finger. If this mound is fairly prominent, it shows mental acuity and a flair for critical thought. Look to these people in your brainstorming sessions! As with everything in life, moderation keeps the balance. A very large mound can indicate that the person uses their skills for self promotion. A person with an underdeveloped mound could lack enthusiasm. If you like wet blankets, go for a flat mound of Mercury! The Mounds of Mars lies underneath the mounds of Jupiter and Mercury, or just under your index and little finger mounds. The positive mound is under your Jupiter mound, and the negative one under your Mercury mound. The negative mound, if well-developed, means a person will fight for their values and beliefs. If it is very large, this could go too far – the person may be quarrelsome and forceful. The positive mound of Mars represents the physical aspects of somebody’s personality. A large and somewhat firm mound shows that someone can be quite assertive, but an overdeveloped mound can show that the person is stubborn and unwilling to compromise. Consider the sort of people these people will deal with – better keep them away from customers! We have only just scratched the surface of all the secrets palm-reading can reveal about a person. There are many other things you can find out by observing people’s each fingers, the mounds of Venus and Saturn, and of course, the lines! Q&A: Walls Closing In I have a small house, and it makes me feel uncomfortable and cramped. Can Feng Shui help me? Renovations are too expensive! Feng Shui can definitely help you! It seems that you really needed to know all of this stuff way back when you were first saving for a house deposit … as so many aspects of the way your Chi flows depend on the shape and layout of the house. But really, every home has its strengths and weaknesses, even those designed with Feng Shui in mind! Just as you have probably found with your body, your money, and your family; how you make use of what you already have makes all the difference! If your house feels cramped to you, Chi probably is not flowing very freely. Like being in a tight dress that you can hardly sit down in! Opening windows is a great way to invite Chi flow. It is easy to see how this works – being able to see, hear and smell the outside from indoors, makes it feel a part of your home. Your home just increased in size by the area of … the world! Try keeping room doors open, where practical, to help your house feel larger and give you a greater sense of freedom at home. Obviously, in the middle of winter you will want to keep unused portions of the house shut up as much as you can – but when practical this is an easy and effective solution. Encourage Chi to flow around your house by placing plants or fresh flowers in various rooms. They smell great, and live plants boost your oxygen levels, for a physical lift! If you have ceiling fans, leave them on a slow setting for a while each day to encourage fresh air to flow around your house, and therefore to encourage Chi flow. Mirrors are an easy way to create a feeling of spaciousness in your home, no matter how small it is.Hang mirrors opposite doorways; when you keep room doors open, they will be visible all of the time, and can be of constant benefit in helping you feel you are able to stretch out a little more. If you have dimly-lighted, dingy corners in some rooms, which Chi bypasses, you will feel cramped as well. You can give yourself more breathing space by removing unnecessary clutters from corners; opening curtains and windows to allow natural light in; and placing plants or lamps in corners to attract Chi. By doing so, you will create better balance throughout the room, and remove cramp feelings! Feng Shui Tip: Good Vibrations It is a common problem that people feel like they lack energy or motivation, they are bored and disinterested with their surroundings, and feel that the world has nothing for them to relate to. Well, one way to help you stop moping around, and do something that gets you going, is to use living energy in your home! Looking at a healthy plant, thriving and growing flowers, gives you a very different feeling than looking at a pile of papers. Watching fish swimming around, and seeing them come to the top and bubble at you to be fed, can make you feel infinitely better than seeing a bare corner, a chair or a table. If you want to feel like the world is a beautiful place again, let living energy help you!
